Dawn Ostroff Talks Green Arrow Spin-Off

The CW's Entertainment President, Dawn Ostroff, recently sat down for an interview at TVGuide.com where she talked about the first season of her new network.

During the interview, Ostroff was asked about one of The CW's newest stars, Justin Hartley. Here's what was said:

TVGuide.com: Justin Hartley, the actor who plays Green Arrow on Smallville, looks like he's your kind of star. Is there a spin-off in his future?

Ostroff: I never say never. I think he's great in the role. It's adding a lot of life to Smallville. That's a show that keeps getting stronger. The research we've done says viewers think that creatively it's the best season they've had.

Dave Batista talks Smallville

WWE Insider interview wwe Batista about smallville (and they release a picture from episode 6.08 called "Static" schedule to air on Thursday, Nov. 16)

A WWE Superstar recently had the chance to interact with some superheroes, as Batista filmed a guest spot on the CW show, Smallville.

“It’s really my first acting experience outside of what we do here at WWE,” Batista told WWE.com a few days after being on the Smallville set in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

“It was awesome. It was a great experience. It played a really, really cool character, and I’m a really big superhero buff, so it was great being involved in anything superhero-related, a pleased Batista said.

According to the CW’s Web site, Smallville is in its sixth season and “this new interpretation of the enduring Superman mythology and its classic characters blends realism and adventure into an exciting action series.”

The SmackDown Superstar spent the most time with the show’s main star, Tom Welling.

“Tom Welling, who plays Clark Kent, Superman, was very kind, very generous, very helpful to me. I can’t say enough about him, he’s a really good guy.”

Batista hopes this isn’t the last time WWE gets involved with shows such as Smallville. The connection is already there, since SmackDown is also on the CW network.

“Hopefully they’ll have me do something else in the show. I’d love to be involved sometime in the future, or any of the WWE Superstars. I think they’d all add something to the show and hopefully we can get some of their cast over here as well. I think it’s good for both shows and the network itself.”

Batista can be seen on Smallville Thursday, Nov. 16, at 8/7 CT on the CW.

Batman Finally Coming To Smallville?

There is speculation about the highly anticipated upcoming Smallville episode titled “Justice”. There have been reports that Clark Kent’s (Tom Welling) future Justice League colleagues will be joining him in Smallville, including the Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, and Green Arrow.

Could Batman be among them too? According to Hollywood North Report, that could be a possibility:

It's finally happening...Smallville is integrating the other superheroes from the Justice League for one giant cornucopia of superhero goodness which will be episode 10 this season.

Already confirmed for return are Aqua Man, Flash, and possibly...Batman!

That would be absolutely amazing! The episode is so top secret that they're printing on transparencies and no one is allowed to read it!

Stay tuned for news in the coming days.

Update:
Apparently, Steven DeKnight, who is writing "Justice", has stated on his blog that Batman will NOT appear in the episode, because unfortunately the restrictions have not been lifted on that character.

Justin Hartley Interview

This week Kristin Veitch from E! Online has an exclusive interview with Justin Hartley and his debut in the episode "Arrow".

Smallville's Arrow Is on Target
By Kristin Veitch

Tonight is the night you will fall in love with Justin Hartley.

I know some of you fans of Smallville, on which Justin plays the Green Arrow (and his alter ego, Oliver Queen) are thinking, No chance in hell! 'Cause, see, he is a love interest for Lois Lane, and I know many of you want her with Clark. But I honestly think even you die-hard Clois (Clark and Lois) fans will warm up to Justin, when you see him tonight on the CW.

Tonight’s episode is, by all accounts (even according to our intern Michael, who’s the biggest Smallville fan around), the best episode so far this season. And that’s because Mr. Hartley, who formerly starred on Passions and as Aquaman in the CW’s Aquaman pilot, makes his debut as the Green Arrow and brings some serious heat.

And where there’s heat…there’s fire! So, I caught up with Justin to get the scoop on the man behind the tights. Here’s a snippet of our convo (please note, it is a little spoilery ):

How’s it been joining the cast? Do the cool kids like you?
They love me because they all hate each other. They are so sick of each other. So, when I walk into the room they are like, "Thank God .” No, I’m kidding. That’s actually the opposite of what goes on. When I first got the job, I was like, Well, I bet the cast probably doesn’t like each other very much after six years. But they are all honestly great friends. Even the women get along with each other.

And word is, you’ll be hooking up with Lois?
Yeah, it’s heading that way. It’s good.

Uh-oh. Have you heard about the Clois Piggybank Campaign?
No.

The fans of Clark and Lois have put their faces on a coin, and they're sending it to the CW and media folks to try to get those two together.
Really?

Listen, I myself am a die-hard Clark and Lois fan. Always have been. Even when it was Teri Hatcher and my man Dean Cain. I don’t know Dean Cain, mind you, but I just like saying that. My man. But when Clark and Lois get together, it's sort of like Smallville would be over, don't you think? So, I think they should put my face on paper money to thank me for saving Smallville for another year! [Laughs.] Because without me, Clark and Lois would get together, and everyone knows that that would be the end of Smallville , and then we wouldn’t have Smallville . It should say "In Oliver We Trust" on the coin. I mean, that's just me. That's just one man's opinion.

Erica is so great, by the way. I love her.
I had to kiss her.

What did your wife think of that? Well, I guess she is used to it since you were on Passions.
It’s so funny. Since I married my wife, I've kissed more women than I have before I ever met her. But we have a policy in my house: It’s okay as long as you are getting paid for it.

That can be dangerous.
I’m sure I am going to come home one day and find Dean Cain in my bed. My wife is going to be like, "He gave me 10 bucks, honey!" And I’ll be like, "Damn stupid policy!"

What’s the Dean Cain obsession?
I don’t know! [Laughs.] I’ve never met him, but he seems cool, doesn’t he? I think he's, like, 80 years old, but he looks like he’s 23. He looks like he could be my child.

Anything you can tease to that’s coming up on Smallville ?
Next week is all about Oliver Queen. Like, where he came from, why he has this relationship with Lex, why he feels the need to fight for the little guy, and that's kind of fun. Then they break him down, and he becomes vulnerable, and there are drugs involved. And then there is an episode coming up called "Justice," where he gets all of his posse together. Like, he has the Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman and, of course, the Green Arrow and Clark. It’s really funny. It’s one of the best scripts I’ve read.

The Seattle Times's article

a very lucky high school girl called Julia Waterhous had the "hard" job to interview this two handsome men for a The Seattle Times's article while they where filming Smallville.

Part of her expirence with the Actors:

Can Welling relate to Clark's adolescent angst?

I think anyone who has been through high school can associate with Clark's journey, he says. People eventually grow up and realize that there is no normal, there is no cool group.

I ask it: "Will we ever see Clark Kent don the red cape and become Superman?"

"No," he says emphatically. "This show will always be about Clark Kent. The transition to Superman is so catastrophic that it's a whole new show once he starts flying around."

And with that, Tom Welling and Clark Kent disappear, back to Smallville. All is right in the world, for now.
